Mr. Umayam joined Construction Systems Group, Inc. in May 2004 and is a licensed Professional Engineer with more than 30 years of experience in waterproofing-related construction quality assurance and building envelope restoration engineering for existing buildings. He is a recognized expert in the design, testing, and inspection of building air and vapor barrier systems.

Mr. Umayam has been involved in numerous high-profile public building envelope projects, including the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, the Pentagon, GSA Headquarters, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Building, and the United States Tax Court. He is also a recognized expert witness in roofing, façade, and other moisture-proofing matters in courts throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Mr. Umayam serves as the lead for CSG’s New Construction Services, with a focus on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, field testing, and quality assurance. His responsibilities include reviewing enclosure designs, observing construction, advising on project scope, witnessing field testing, investigating enclosure-related issues, and providing best practices and lessons learned to improve enclosure quality and performance. He supports a wide range of clients and asset classes—including office, multifamily, healthcare, senior living, mixed-use, industrial, K–12, higher education, hospitality, retail, and all levels of government—on projects ranging from small renovations to large, multi-phase developments.
